Hey everyone, I've been exploring working for Kaiser but curious if anyone here had any first hand experience working there? I know each Kaiser is different based on the location you go (TPMG vs SCPMG vs CPMG vs others), additionally it also seems that the experience varies based on what clinic you work at. I've heard of the golden handcuffs analogy and that physicians don't have a cap on the number of patients they see. Do you feel that Kaiser offers a decent work life balance? From my research there seems to be as many psychiatrists retiring from Kaiser as those who leave before their benefits mature. Curious to hear your thoughts!

It might help to understand you a little better. What is most important to you about a job? Kaiser offers something very specific with relatively clear downsides and some upsides. The variation amongst Kaiser sites is not going to be nearly as great as the variation of Kaiser versus non-Kaiser employment.

I agree if you mean variation between sites within a region. Somewhat disagree if you mean variation between regions. (e.g. CA law mandates HMOs/specifically targeted at KP to always have psych intake appointments regardless of panel size and follow-up access. That likely has a significant impact on experience of working there.)

Right now I am searching for a job that is relatively stable and good benefits. I've heard of others having a positive experience with Kaiser.
