I am curious if anyone here has any insights into the quality of training and general reputation of the postdoc program at Kaiser. I will be at the remote VAMC next year for my internship but want to return to my home state for my postdoc year. Formal postoc fellowships are scarce here (at least as shown in the APPIC database), with the exception of Kaiser. It wouldn't be my first choice, although I consider looking at Kaiser for postdoc, given the circumstances.
I really appreciate any feedback about their postdoc program. I also wonder how favourably other employers (eg VAs, Prisons, etc) may look at the Kaiser postdoc experience at the job applicant's CV.

Thanks in advance!!!

Background: I'm in northern california and have worked in a variety of settings (not VA or prison) and spoken with psychologist who have been through Kaiser training.

My impression is that the Kaiser postdoc is a nice "bridge" postdoc for rounding out experience and getting to different types of practice sites. For example, if you've had counseling center experience and wish to work in a VA, Kaiser can be a way to get you there.

If you don't have a specific reason for wanting a postdoc, I think it's better to start a job right away (if you can find one.) Why work for cheap? That's my two cents.
