Can anyone comment on what it’s like to work at Kaiser in SoCal? The job listing looks like compensation is pretty good (550k-650k). I’m assuming this includes benefits, but am curious on how many hours is expected to work to achieve this salary. Thanks

Edit post since I calculated bonus wrong:
If the bonus is 400k (130k/yr averaged over 3 years) then 550-600k sounds accurate for the first 3 years. Not including any benefits. On the lower end if you work typical hours like mid-40s/wk.

You can make that amount of cash (not including benefits) several years in if you work decent hours (maybe ~50hrs/wk). But not for the first 3-5 years or so before you make "partner" and some raises. The bonus is probably to immediately bring the new hires up to current market rate without changing the pay structure.

The positives (and negatives) of kaiser are very difficult to quantify because of the benefits as well as nature of work. For example, at most kaisers its probably easier to work more hours than what PP is like where you are in the OR all the time.

Sign on bonus is $400k. $300 year one and $50k retention each year until partnership. If you leave before then you pay it back.

Irvine and Anaheim are together under OC Kaiser not separate groups. You go to both but I think they make the associates and per diems go to anaheim more becuz it’s busier.

Btw for OP: aside from pay rate, vacation, benefits, etc each local kaiser can be very different in day-to-day, life style, night coverage, case acuity, etc. Example: From all-MD (just BP), to heavy crna use, and anywhere in between. And where is better probably depends on each person. Keep that in mind

If I was and wondering how many hours were necessary to achieve that salary, I would ask the employer. I would most definitely not ask some online chat board.
Kaiser is a factory job. That has its pros and cons. Proceed accordingly.
