So I got their supplemental application but it says that if I am not from Hawaii, arkansas, kansas and two other states that I must have a AA of 20 on the DAT for a chance to have an interview. Is this true?

On predents.com it says that the average DAT is 18.1 and PAT is 17.1

I dont have an AA of 20 so what should I do?

The DAT average could be less than 20 because the applicants from the states you listed may have a lower AA than that. The school probably has an agreement to let in a number of students from each of those states (sort of like in-state applicants), so people from every other state need high stats to get in because the number of seats are few.

I got the same letter last year and a few months ago. Both times I opted to not send in the application fee because in short the letter told me I'm not going to be considered for admission. I know its only 35 bucks, but hey, its 35 bucks I can send somewhere that will consider me. All in all, its your choice. If you think its worth it, go for it. Good luck!

I got a 19 on my dat, and received the letter about needing a 20 to be competitive the same day. I called and talked to the dean and she told me that they do not consider out of state applicants unless they have a 20, and that I should not send in the supplemental fee. 🙁 So, I didn't send it. I guess Kansas City is off my list....

🙂 ok so!! it's been a long while since i've been in the forum!

I'm a D1 at UMKC and to tell you the truth, they do mean it when they say that you need a 20 to be considered for an interview from out of state. they have an agreement with Kansas, New Mexico, and couple of other states which don't have dental school to take 1 or 2 applicants per year. (for kansas it is actuallly more like 20ish). and they told us that for our class AVG DAT was above 18 and GPA was 3.67 and sci GPA was like 3.7ish.

I'd honestly consider not filling the secondary application if I was out of state and with a score below 20. Let me know if you have any questions about KC or the city in general.
