Colorado
Pros
  • Clinicals start in year 2 w/ LIC model
  • Support system at current job at a FM clinic
  • faculty seems very open and available to students
  • Slightly lower tuition (in state)

Cons
  • Only have immediate family in the area
  • Cost of living is higher and area around school isn't the best
  • brand new curriculum
  • Deposit

Kansas
Pros
  • Graduated from KU for undergrad, all of my friends are in KC (many at KUMed already)
  • Strong in primary care
  • Lots of extended family in the area
  • Cost of living is less
  • ACE curriculum is better established at KU than LIC at CU
  • emphasize student learning communities

Cons
  • Clinical experience starts later than CU
  • more expensive tuition (OOS)
  • faculty to student ratio is 1.3:1 vs 6:1 at CU

Summary: Kansas has always been my dream school, but I was very impressed at the interview with CU and wasn't expecting admission to both, tougher decision than I thought. Things I like at one are the things I dislike about the other.

Does that mean the total cost for KU is more expensive? Colorado has your immediate family so that’s a plus if you like being close to home. I think that’s better than visiting extended family. Colorado is a good school that I’d recommend, especially if it’s cheaper. They can’t stop the Rock Chalk while you’re there.
