Do you chaps agree that the answer is C? I think its B, because C has a solid line on top of it, whch means the top view shold have a dotted square, not a solid square. Please help!

no it is C because the solid line on top is showing a change in elevation. if u look at the front view, you can see the difference in elevation from the dotted line, showing there needs to be the top line there (which is in answer choice C). the top view has a solid square showing a change in elevation also, if it was a dotted square, it would mean the hole was not visible from the top and only visible from the front or side. does it make sense now?

Ok, now the top view isnt dotted, which means the dugout is in fact visible from the top. however, choice C has a solid line on top, which says to me that from the top view, nothing is visible so the top view would have to be a dotted line.

that top line just shows the lip, i dont see how it means that the answer needs a top line. I know you are correct, but help me see!

oh i see what you mean. ok so choice C, the line above the dugout, is showing the platform PAST the dugout. in choice C, the top line does not mean that there is something right ABOVE the dugout, it just measn if u look from the end view, you can see a wall behind the dugout, with a top to the wall which matches the top part of the whole cube, like if you look at page 508 the answer, they show you the 3D figure so you can see what i mean. also on the top view, the reason you see a solid line is because a change in angle/elevation. choice C has a change in elevation and angle.
