Hey,

I just auditioned to teach Kaplan MCAT and my audition went terribly...However, they still advanced me to the next stage. Everyone else I auditioned with did a great job and I wonder if they felt bad to just kick me out of the room.

So, does anyone get rejected after the audition?

I don't know if anyone gets rejected after an audition, but it is possible to get booted from the teacher training program. I've seen it happen.

Yes, people can be rejected. I've seen it happen on several occasions.

I'm interested in knowing what they ask of you during an audition. Do they test you on your knowledge of a specific subject area while monitoring your presentation skills?

They ask you to give a 5 min presentation.

Thanks for the replies! Maybe I wasn't as bad as I thought

it depends which center you apply at. i only had one other cantidate at mine so we both got the position. the director said that at some centers they have 30 people audition so obviosly people get rejected. Did you just have your audition? It seems a little late.

Based on the teaching ability of my Kaplan course instructors, no one gets rejected even if they are TOTALLY incompetant and don't know anything about the material😡 $1200 bucks for only 1 great teacher out of 3, babd, bad, bad.

Anyway, I hope you are a great teacher and can help people learn the material. Good luck with the rest of the process.

Yeah, I just had my audition...It does seem late and they seemed desperate for MCAT instuctors. Maybe they're looking for instructors for the August MCAT prep course.

AmyB, I'm sorry Kaplan screwed u. Priinceton Review wasn't much better. Just seemed like many of the instructors were all talk and little substance.

Wow Amy I'm so sorry you had a bad experience!

I teach for Kaplan and I hope my kids like me :scared:

Anyway, I auditioned, it was a 5 minute presentation on any topic you know something about - so I chose "online dating"! No joke!

I think there were 5 other MCAT teachers who made it to the training and only 2 of us finished. There were like 30 who auditioned initially for various tests, there were maybe 10 in my training group, and I think 3 finished. One poor girl made it through all 5 sessions and got cut at the end of the last one!
So basically, they audition a ton of people, let the majority go to the first few training sessions, and cut people as they go along. It was a little unnerving being the last 'man' standing, so to speak, but it makes me think they don't just take anyone - although Amy's story suggests otherwise!
