Feeling really low right now... I've spent 6 solid weeks studying Kaplan and Destroyer. I feel like I know Kaplan Bio and Destroyer Bio inside and out, but I'm still scoring SO low on Bio Subject Tests in the Kaplan review. Everyone says these are "so easy"... but I find Destroyer to be much easier than Kaplan, at least in terms of bio. Anyone else?

I'm also so confused with Chem. All of Kaplan and Destroyer are problems, yet everyone says the actual DAT doesn't have that many "problems". What's a typical chem question on the DAT? Anyone have suggestions on how to study chem if it's not all problem-based?

Took the Kaplan class, finished Kaplan book, almost done with Destroyer, and everytime I get a surge of confidence, I take a practice test and absolutely bomb it 🙁 I feel so hopeless!

I read an earlier post that said the Kaplan topicals (subject tests) were much more difficult than the real thing. I'm preparing for my DAT right now as well, and from what I've been reading if you know destroyer inside and out you'll be fine. So don't panic. :luck:

Youre not the only one.....I think im on the SAME exact boat you are on. My kaplan class finished last week and I thought I had a good understanding of stuff in the blue and white book...so lately ive been doing kaplan subject tests and going through destroyer and feel like I havent learned a thing. I get 50's (sometimes even less) on most of the subject tests and can only answer about 1/5 of the destroyer questions right. Everyone keeps telling me to use destroyer and just refer back to the blue book and internet when you need a more in depth....so I guess ill stick to that. Let me know what youre doing.

I've done both Kaplan + Destroyer for Bio, and somehow find Destroyer much easier (probably because almost every answer is "E")... but there is definitely some good information in there that I HOPE will show up on Test Day. I get around 40/50/60% on Kaplan Bio Subject tests, I feel like I'm screwed. As for Chem, I've been working through Destroyer Chem questions, which are suepr helpful, but I feel like there is NO way I would know how to do some of the calculations on test day. I'm also confused b/c so many people say the Chem portion is "Conceptual"... and I find myself constantly doing problems in both books as oppose to learning "concepts". Trying to keep my head up and try the best I can... I seriously admire all those 20+'ers.. I feel like I'd be thrilled with a 17 at this point :scared:

you people are crazy. i took the dat last year and almost all of my general chemistry questions were conceptual. concepts were balancing equation, hess's law, polarity, electronegativity, affinity, ......... the chemistry part was easier than topscore and easier than any practice test.

dont stress yourself out- thats the worst thing you can do.
keep at the destroyer for bio-- when are you taking the exam?

scheduled to take it August 11th... yes, totally stressed right now!
