kaplan books without listening to online lectures?

For anyone who has seen the 2011 Kaplan books, do you recommend listening to all the corresponding lectures online, or just reading the books? I'm attending a 3 week live Kaplan course, but finding it difficult to keep up with the online lectures and live lectures. Does anyone know which is better? And how useful are the books alone, without any online lectures or live lectures?
