Kaplan Course...Helpful or not?

Hi. Just wondering is the Kaplan Course beneficial in improving PCAT scores? It's $1300 from end of August to beginning of October. I'm wondering if I should take the class. Thanks.

For OCT, pcat classes already started......classes are ok... but they cover stuff(topics) that are most likely to be on the test so its a good review of important concepts and some techniques that can help you to improve your score from 60 to 80 or more which can make a whole lot of difference...

they basically summarize everything, something you can do on your own.
i signed up but got a refund after 2 class meetings

I took the Kaplan course and it is worthless. I just took it for the past month. My instructor was useless, she never took the PCAT before. All the material online says "As you take your MCAT" at least change the stinking M to a P.

Basically, the instructor, which in my case never took the PCAT, stands in front of the class and you go over a workbook that has very basic information on there. The $30 Kaplan book is the same stuff given for the class. The class has some extra O-chem stuff but it's just a basic review that you can find on those O-chem for dummies books.

The problem is that the PCAT is not a big money maker or a priority for Kaplan. They just don't give a crap about it, hence the references to the MCAT and DAT on all the material. The material is based on the MCAT and they just recycle it for the PCAT but the problem is that the PCAT focuses on things differently, so you are learning the wrong thing.

DAMN YOU KAPLAN, I WANT MY MONEY BACK.

I wish I bought a new laptop instead of taking the Kaplan class....😡

The only thing good about the course is the PRACTICE TESTS!! And if you can't get yourself to study, then this class can help a little, but in the end it's up to YOU!!😳

I took the Kaplan course. It was awesome. I have all the saved practice tests, the diagnostic, midterm, and the final and all the biology 1A, 2A, 2A, 2B tests that went along with it. I find it helpful. There is nothing much on reading comprehension but the practice tests in biology, verbal, and chemistry are super great. I learned some math stuff such as vectors and standard deviations that actually showed up on my June 2007 pcat test. My email address is: [email protected].

i cant believe u wont stop lying...ppl arnt stupid on this site....u never took the course because u sent me a message asking if i had the exams for the course because u thought i had taken the course....
i wudnt have said anything but i dont want u to make money off ppl by defrauding them...🙂

Well, trading or selling the kaplan material is cause for banning, isn't it. Just like if you posted PCAT question on here. The things are copyrighted.

I wouldn't give them out because they are copyrighted but also I paid $1300 for that crap.😱

The practice test material suck because they don't focus on what is relevant to the PCAT. They have to test you in the style of the PCAT questions but instead you are given questions that are MCAT style and sometimes DAT style. PCAT is not a priority for them, they just rehash the MCAT/DAT and make money. Like I said, most of the workshops, keep refering to the MCAT and how the test questions would be phrased one way or another. That's great and all but I'm taking the PCAT so thanks for the advice Kaplan.

After taking the PCAT today, after taking the Kaplan classrooms course, I must say that the Kaplan material suck, big time. I've done all the material they give. I did the online workshops, online quizzes, did the reinforcement practice tests, read the kaplan book, never missed a class.

Kaplan does not focus on the correct material. They flood you with everything. They are missing microbiology, you'd think with all the things that want you to study, microbio should be part of it.

The problem isn't what you are studying though. Like I said before, the problem is how they present the problem. I thought that they didn't ask the question in the same way or similar way as the PCAT.

Sorry about going on and on about how much Kaplan sucks in every post. But I don't want them to make another penny, selling crappy material. I really think the problem is that they focus too much on MCAT prep and just rehash the material for the PCAT.
