Kaplan Course Takers - Practice vs. Actual

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
When i took Kaplan, the academic practice was really hard and it prepared me for the real deal. but their PA exams sucked and were way too easy so when i got to the real thing i didn't do so well. I was kinda mad about that

I agree. The biology and the chem was pretty good but the PAT was way too easy. If anything, their pictures are "too good". On a computer screen, some of the real DAT figures don't look quite "right". Especially the angle ranking. Becuase of the resolution of the screen some of the lines looked a bit jagged. Also, their math was a bit easier. Acethedat.com has a good PAT prep and overall I really liked Top Score Pro.

IMO, it seemed like the Kaplan course only prepared you for the Kaplan practice tests. It seemed like the best method (looking back on it) is to use a variety of sources to study from. Def. use the Kaplan book, but supplement it with the TopScore CD and your texts from undergrad.

Topscore may be representative of the sciences and maths but I thought its PAT is still too easy compared to the real thing like Kaplan.

I like DAT Achiever a lot as it truly tests your knowledge to the limit, and carry many similar questions as a great bonus to the actual DAT pertaining to sections like Biology, PAT, RCT and QRT especially.

If you have taken the Kaplan course and the DAT, how similar are the practice exams to the real deal?
Cheers

I Agree with everyone, Kaplan was definitely easier than the actual test. I like the topscore pro it's pretty similar to the actual test. I wasn't aware of DAT achiever at the time I took my DAT so I can't comment on that.
So if you're getting 19 let's say on Kaplan, u should think of 17 or 18 on the actual test. Make sure you get a really good score on Kaplan practice testss.
Good Luck
