kaplan course

I took it an have yet to take my DAT exam. Scheduled for Sept 24. I do feel, however, that the money would have been best spent coolecting interest in my investment account. All of the information from Kaplan can be self taught.
They do provide some nice techniques on things and definitely provide a way to become familiar witha standardized tests like the DAT.
The Instructors in my class seemed liek they were constantly looking at the book and just reading from it. Not really explaining it or getting into to much detail. Yes i know it is aonly a prep course and they are not there ot teach the material to you.
However, after doing numerous practice exams, studying my proverbial ass off and still wondering if I am prepared for one of the biggest exams of my life I still think the 1299-1399 fee could have served me better in my investment account.
The online version of Kaplan is by far better than the class.
I second that, I took the review course and seriously the classroom sessions are very dumbed down and a waste of time. Don't get over confident, any time I was getting over confident I came on this site and saw the 23+ scores and it motivated me. If I were to do it again I would just buy the book, it's all I used (22/25). I just sat in the library 5 hours a day studying for 4 weeks and it was good enough. Just put some effort into it and you'll do fine.
I found the kaplan course very unhelpful. Kaplan is to archaic and is teachign for a DAT that is no longer being given (i.e. tone questions, bio lab techniques etc) and not worth the 1.2 k. The online resources are helpful but still I think it isn't worth the coin to bother with the kaplan course. Buy the blue book instead.
I also found the Kaplan course to be helpful. Particularly how they teach you STRATEGY for the RC and PAT. Also... the fact that you take 6 mock DAT's before the actual test... and all of the online workshops and Subject Tests are really geered to get you ready. If I could do it all over again, I would take the Kaplan course and don't forget to buy the Destroyer prep too!
I have taken the Kaplan course recently. Although I did pretty decent on the DAT, I have to admit that the lessons are a complete joke. However, I think that their additional materials are extremely helpful. There are enormous amount of questions from the subject tests, online workshops and quizzes - but its really up to you to use them. I think there are probably more than 1000+ questions just from those resources alone, and that is excluding the 6 full length mock DAT they have.
My suggestion? Take it if you have the money and exhausted all other materials. Your money is probably better spent buying other resources such as crack the pat, achiever, destroyer etc. The course is helpful, but its not 1.2K helpful.

I totally agree with jigabodo. Although the lessons are useless, the question banks, subject tests, and simulation practice exams will prepare you for the DAT. You will have to use supplemental material such as campbell bio text, schaum's bio, etc. for biology section, but as far as gchem, orgo, and math are concerned, Kaplan does a good job preparing you. I am pressed for time and need to take the DAT ASAP. I am low on money, and avoided taking kaplan but at this point, I am more willing to spend the money cuz I need to do well. I basically have all the subject tests, the books, and the lessons notes, and a few of the integration workshops, do you all think I'll be okay without having done the 6 simulation full legnth exams, and instead do top score, and acheiver, or am I really missing out???
