does kaplan DAT course help, does it really boost your score up to the 20s. i hope it does because i just sign up for one.....


anyone out there taken the kaplan dat course??? with good scores in return...

I took the Kaplan class with good success and would highly recommend it. You should do all the sectional practice test materials that they have at the center, besides just going to class, doing your reading and taking the mock exams. It will help. There is also a program called scholarware that really helped. http://www.scholarware.com/

I think it depends on your course instructor. The instructor I had was hard to understand. It was her first time teaching and she really wasn't very helpful. There would be times where we would ask for clarification, and she just plainly said "i dont know". She would get very agitated and irritated whenever we asked questions. My experience with Kaplan was horrible. Other than the instructor, I think the majority of studying for the DAT is the effort you put in on your own time. They skim material and so its up to you to DO THE STUDYING!! Its worked for a lot of people, I just wasn't one of those lucky ones (but I did fine on the actual test) hahahahha

Its good resource, but you still gotta try your hardest in order to do well on the DAT. As for me, I supplement the material from Kaplan course and combine it with others such as TS, Achiever etc and thought that was pretty useful.

Kaplan is great for giving you most of the material you'll need. Just going to class, reading the book, and taking the practice tests isn't enough though. You have to read the material multiple times, take your own notes from it, memorize like mad, and redo the practice exams several times. Then you should get all 20s.

Kaplan is good as a starting point. I would not rely solely on it. I would get the Kaplan material but would definitely not attend the classes - total waste in my opinion.

You've got to utilize everything if you want to do well. just Kaplan wont help. I liked scholarware, and the destroyer. I went though old biology/ chem books and such too.

I took the class, but thought most of it wasn't worth my money. The only part that kaplan helped with was PAT and RC. The suggestions/practice for the "road map" worked for me. I didn't attend all classes, because its just like a huge review session. I didn't need someone spoon-feed me the material.... I can get it from a textbook.

I found it expensive but worth it. I scored well on the DAT and largely due to the foundation that Kaplan gave me. I would recommend that you buy DAT destroyer and the test Cds as well.

I felt like Kaplan course helped me with having a good study schedule to follow. You will certainly not cover everything you need to know in class, but Kaplan will give you enough study materials. I particularly liked their practice problems for PAT. They are a little harder than the ones you will see on the actual test, so I thought it was a good practice 🙂
