hey, I can't decide if i should register for the kaplan dat course for starting Feb. 5th... i dont even know if there is still time..

My course load right now is

Cellbio, biochem, plant pathology, microec and physics... do you think its stil possible to dedicate time to dat studying with all these classes if i'm paying 1200 for the class? I'm like lost idk what to do. I'm thinking it would be smarter to take it in the summer

what do you guys think

if i was in that situation, and with that load, I would take it in the summer...i wouldn't completely destroy myself and potentially sacrifice my GPA or DAT score. I would go w/ summer...its one of the perks of the DAT that you can take it whenever works best for you. best of luck!

Depending on what your summer plans are (job, internship, etc.), I would definitely advise you to take the DAT in the summer. You will be able to better focus on the goal of scoring well without the outside distraction of other courses. This semester, keep yourself sharp and focused on the DAT as a "long-term project" by doing some practice tests on your own (especially PAT).

Wow, it looks like you have a pretty science-heavy courseload with several advanced biology classes. If you can afford to take Kaplan, go for it. Kaplan DAT provides great basic content review for general chemistry and orgo, which many students took two or three years ago. So, if you are anxious about reviewing for the Science sections, you should certainly enroll.

If you are a strong biology student and feel comfortable with you ability review the content in chemistry, and you are a good standardized test taker (SAT 1400+), you need to decide whether Kaplan is really the most efficient and cost-effective way to study. Many students find the science content review provided by Kaplan DAT rather basic (and it is, compared to the300/400 level biology and chemistry courses most of us have taken), but find Kaplan worthwhile for the PAT and full-length practice. Still other students find they are able to find plenty of practice resources to use on their own.

This has been my experience as a teacher for Kaplan DAT over the past nine months. Let me know if you have any other questions!

I took Kaplan last spring while taking Biochem, Biochem Lab, Physiology Lab, Physics 1, Physics 1 Lab, and an upper division elective. I attended the classes, but found myself not studying during the semester as much as I would have liked to. Between spring and summer classes I studied for the DAT 6-8 hours a day for 4 weeks, and took it middle of June. It is possible to do it, you just have to realize you will have no life.
