I did a search and came up with a wide variety of responses but does anyone who has taken the DAT and used the Kaplan DAT book recommend it? By that I mean does it provide a good overview of things to know for the various sections of the test? I have to admit looking through all the breakdowns I've read from a few people leave me feeling a bit overwhelmed when I think of tackling all the material. I plan on buying it, Schaum's Biology Outline, and the Math Destroyer as well as studying my old Orgo textbook for review on the various mechanisms but I still feel like this wont be enough. Any input about the Kaplan book or anything else that might be of help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the reply, I will definitely have to look at Barron's. I'm a bio major but I really want a good review before taking the DAT to make sure I've covered the important things.

And seeing as there are no other posts I guess my strategy and materials look pretty good so far

If I were to pick 1 book to study off of it would be the Kaplan Blue Book...It is cheap, covers all the material necessary to do well on the DAT and the 3 practice tests are a good gauge of how difficult the actual exam is...

However to score really high on the DAT, I would also recommend

Cliff's AP Bio for the Bio Section
Crack DAT PAT for PAT
DAT Destroyer for the Chem and OChem sections
Topscore and Achiever for additional practice tests

Good luck

Thanks for the info. I have been looking at the DAT destroyer for the math section and Topscore and Achiever as well.

Just a quick question that is not really along the same topic, but to keep from making another thread:

How far does the math go on the DAT? Is it just algebra or are there vectors, series, integrals, etc. as in upper level maths?
