I just took my PCAT yesterday...I am also on the same boat as you. I didn't do well at RC (and my verbal could have been better too). I don't really feel too bad though because my science and math scores were really good. It's not my fault English isn't my primary language.
VB - 43
B - 99
RC - 17
QA - 88
C - 95
Comp - 85
Tips:
- I read the Bio section in the Kaplan book (skipping all the plant material) in depth
- I used the Dr. Collins material to study the other sections
- Dr. Collins practice tests were perfect for timing myself through the sections and the material is very similar to the actual PCAT
- I bought the Pearson practice tests and they did help material wise but the material they cover on the PCAT was harder yet do-able in my opinion
- For QA, randomly pick an answer, note it in the dry erase board they give you and skip all the problems that require more then 50 seconds of work
- DO NOT focus too long on a question, even if you think you know it, its not worth getting one question right by sacrificing 3 others due to time.
- ***Get a good night sleep, Eat something for breakfast
The first time I took my PCAT (in July) i did really bad (Comp of 27). Not because I didn't know the material but because I couldn't time myself and I ran out of time in the QA, chem and reading sections. The Dr. Collins material really helped both material wise and completion wise. After following some of these tips I increased my score in every category.
