If a pt. is diagnosed with cancer and their family members are asking you not to tell the patient about the prognosis- what do you do? I understand that you do tell the patient, but i narrowed it down on the qbank to you ask them if they want to hear it or you tell them what you know.

I read somewhere not to hide anything from the patient but at the same time I also read that the patient can decide not to know the news?
