I just finished Kaplan FL 9 and was wondering how I should interpret my results? Sorry couldn't think of a better word.

I got 10 - 9 - 9, but should I really consider it in my scores? I thought that the Bio was kinda like wtf and didn't really represent the stuff from AAMC, or TBR. Maybe i'm wrong?

Just wondering what other people thought.

Took Kaplan 9 today and thought it was hard. I am also really glad I took it because it revealed a few holes in my prep

Would also like to know if it was similar to test day from the past few exams... Anyone?

Sorry not to go off-topic here but do you guys feel that FL 6-9 are much harder than FL 1-5 ? ... I have only taken the first 4.. I'm desperately looking for someone who has done Kaplan FLs (online version) recently as well as the AAMCs and can relate how difficult/easy the 2 are compared to each other.

I only did Kaplan 1-6, but I can't say 6 was harder... I did better on it. My worst were 3 and 4.

9 was hard (but a pretty good test) but thanks to Kaplan's absurd inflation I got a hysterical 36.

Oh and AAMCs have been easier all along, but with a much MUCH tighter curve. Meaning you are expected to get no more than like 7 wrong on a section to break into mid 30s. But don't use AAMCs to fully gauge the real test. Apparently it's becoming more and more like Kaplan, while retaining AAMC's tight curve.

Wow I didn't get notified on any of these replies! Omg like Kaplan with AAMC curve??? How will I ever get into medical school? That's crazy!

I was told that as you take the higher "number" tests from Kaplan, they get harder, with 10 and 11 being the hardest.

Heyy Sammy... well its "getting more like Kaplan" but Kaplan should still be harder and have more calculations. Granted there are some PS sections out there that get pretty calc heavy - luck of the draw.

I would definitely not go with the "highest Kaplan number" theory. If anything its more of an AAMC average, particularly AAMC 10 and 11.

Kaplan 10 and 11 are so unrealistically hard that they aren't even worth doing. People who score high 30's on AAMC get high 20's on those two tests.

I'm a little worried because i've been studying for months and I started at 16 and am now at around 28/29 (on AAMC tests) but it's like ugh please let me see that 30 already!

Sammy, sounds like you need to switch gears. I would very highly recommend you switch to TBR for Physics and Chem and continue to use Kaplan's Topicals/Sections Tests.

I'm doing TBR all week. I try to do at least 6 passages a day at least, aiming for 12 passages a day.

But then I keep getting like 4/7 and I don't know how to eliminate the content gap. Like ill know what topic it falls under but not the sub-topic. And then how do you study that gap? Try to find the chapter and read that but again?

I took the test on April 11th but it's nothing like Kaplan (Kaplan is harder IMO ) quiet similar to AAMC .. If you can do the AAMC FL and understand every concept tested on it, you should be fine ( well at least if you have a test similar to mine -:

Yeah Kaplan 8-11 are no bueno I think. Maybe good for how disastrous a test can be but other than that use it to show weaknesses and really hammer out tougher topics.

I did terribly on those and am doing really well on AAMCs so I'm using those as my measuring stick not Kaplans.

I thought the Biology/Biochem of Kaplan FL 9 was easier. First time I'd gotten above average but Biochemistry is my strong point... regular bio, chem and physics not so much. I took TPR free MCAT the other day and did horribly. My worst is reading comp., I miss things in passages and don't read the questions well. I'm meant to take the MCAT o August 21st, really not sure I'm ready. Regarding how much I think they are like the AAMC. Honestly, I don't think anyone writes passages as terrible or confusing as the AAMC. I find Kaplan asks a lot of discrete questions and focuses a ton on Biochemistry, respiration, etc. The AAMC question pack for Behavioral sciences was WAY easier than any of the practice exam companies I've seen but not sure the new practice is representative of the actual exam since apparently they dumb the first practice down. Any advice or pearls of wisdom will be greatly appreciated. Stay motivated!
