Hi, I already did a search and couldn't find anything up to date. Has anyone used the Kaplan high yield course for step 1? I was considering something for structure and wasn't convinced by what DIT had to offer. Could someone who used it for their prep give me pros and cons and tell me if they found it useful. Thanks.

I didn't take Kaplan's Step 1 course. But I did their QBank and have their lecture notes. They teach a broad medicine course that covers many details that wouldn't be tested on Step 1 in a million years. And their question style is dissimilar relative to the real deal's.

I was OCD prepping for my Step 1 and covered all of the bases. It was only in retrospect that I was very annoyed at how famous Kaplan is for USMLE, despite having a low-quality product, just because their name was big for the SATs (took their prep course for that which was a waste of money).

For someone who's been out of school and needs some sort of structure would you say Kaplan is any good, or do you know anything about Becker? I'm kind of at a loss for how to prepare, I was thinking of taking Kaplan Live Lectures to give me some motivation.

I think DIT try to make their product more convincing as far as teaching to STEP 1 but I don't want to be read to when I can do that myself. I would like some structure. My school only gives us 4 maybe 5 weeks for dedicated prep. I bought USMLERx already but found I don't know enough to answer Qs so I use it after test blocks or when bored. Reading first aid as a stand alone text can be dry. I have pathoma that I will use for dedicated prep and read golijan RR with path right now. I'll have to start focusing on step more come January. Also our school bought us 3 month of Uworld but I extended to 6 to start in January.

This guy compares Kaplan, Lecturio, and some other resources for step 1 www.youtube.com/watch?v=zh6BYhOXJzs&t=11s. Lecturio's structure is pretty clean.
