Ok very weird question:
So basically, I was told by someone in my lab (an undergrad student who seemed like she knew what she was talking about) that when you take the MCAT prep with Kaplan, you have an automatic advantage to getting into medical schools.
For example, if 2 students have an exactly similar record (GPA/MCAT/EC's), then the medical school would pick the student that took Kaplan for MCAT prep. Something to do with Kaplan having some kind of "in" with med schools. At first I though she was pulling my leg, but after arguing over this for an hour, I realized that she honestly believed this to be true.
Besides for the obvious ethical problems with this, I'm not sure what medical schools get out of doing this.
Has anyone ever heard of anything along these lines?
