Kaplan Lecture notes thoughts?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
What are people's thoughts on these? Seems like too much!

Pharm + videos is awesome. Biochem ive also heard iis really good with videos as well as neuro. I used kaplan + CMMRS and thought it was great. Only thing iim not using kaplan for is path and physio. Overall ive heard nothing but great things

In order of usefullness (so far):

biochem>=pharm>>BSP>physio>>>>>>>>the rest.

Biochem is really well done. I recommend it over RR every chance I get. Pharm is excellent, assuming you can watch the lectures with Raymon. BSP with the lectures are also good, and I recommend that (although I think the HY book is written by the same author).

Physio is good, not great. I'm considering using BRS instead. The physio lectures I watched were also good not great. Path I would steer clear of, except the new one had some nice pictures for review. Immuno/micro is ok, lectures were ok. New version is in color, and I know some people love that but CMMRS is a better book at the moment. Anatomy + neuro, ok book (just seems like this is the toughest for the review companies to do well, kaplan has one of the better ones).

I have the pharm and biochem videos. So far I thought the pharm have been very useful.

What does BSP stand for? Is it worth watching and annotating into FA?

How do you guys even have time to read these books?

I'm sitting her with FA, RR, and BRS Physio... and doing questions. That alone takes many many hours. I'm seriously thinking of just using FA and RR for Biochem.

I don't really. Between school and step 1 my life is pretty dreary. Just ask my friends to bear with me and dvr a ton of shows.

I have no idea how people do so many questions from qbanks. I wish I could but there's just no time. My school isn't finished until the first week of may, so this continues for another month and a half.

Kind of what was said above. I've become the med school troll who lives in the building and rarely goes home. Even when I'm home, my stress relief often consists of organizing study stuff. You also discover you get faster as you go because things begin to come back and it doesn't all warrant detailed studying.

I literally had 2 girls cut ties with me because they wanted relationships and to spend time with me, but I chose to study instead....Yea, I know. You don't need to say anything about that.

If You have a poor background or have been out of school for sometime, I would definitely consider taking Kaplan. It is a great comprehensive review. Then U can complement it with FA. Along with several Qbanks.

Now, if u have a solid foundation.... Maybe ALOT of Questions along with FA would be a great way to go about step 1. But always having great reference books to go thru topics that u r weak in--- whether its kaplan review books, BRS, etc.. whatever u used in the past.

Good Luck in ur studies

BSP = behavior science & pysche. It's a good review, though time consuming. I don't know how beneficial it would be to annotate all that into FA. Unless you notice some deficits in those areas, I would personally focus on other areas. The notes + videos are good if you have time though, but how many of us have time haha...

Thanks, I appreciate the info. I probably will skip out on it, as you said time is money right now. My psyche background is decent so probably not worth the time.
