So Im studying for the PCAT right now, and I have a lot of resources to study from, barrons, kaplan and cliffnote practice exams, as well as the kaplan MCAT book.

I started skimming through the MCAT one and comparing it to the information the PCAT prep book has and it is really in-depth. I was actually thinking of studying from the MCAT book for the BIO and Chemistry? is that a bad idea? I really want to ace the PCAT in august so I could use any advice 🙂

Thanks!

I dont remember what year the kaplan MCAT book was that i compared with to my kaplan PCAT book but the text was identical.
It was literally copy and pasted from one to the other. obviously i coudn't go thru every page but i did go through a lot... :/

thats when i realized that i didn't feel the kaplan text was specialized for the pcat and then bought Dr. Collins material and i dont regret that! 😀

It's okay for chemistry but really overkill for both. The PCAT doesn't go into as much depth into the post-Gen bio sequence as the MCAT does. For example, physiology is a de facto requirement for the MCAT but you only need basic knowledge for the PCAT.

Just be wary of the MCAT-specific passage questions. Doing these questions will help prepare you indirectly by forcing you to think a little harder but the content and difficulty can be overkill. PCAT questions are more straight-forward, direct, but there are more of them per minute during the PCAT. My point is to still use PCAT-specific questions as a basis for preparation.
