I took the molecular genetics topical and got a 50%.

Lately, I took AAMC 6 and 7 in the last two weeks, and scored a 14 on them both. I have never scored under a 10 on BS.

Anyone else have any experiences with this?

THis totally just shattered my confidence.

Example of Something Ridiculous:

This was an explanation for a particular answer. This is when acetylcholinesterase does not work properly, so there is an excess Ach.
Though not mentioned in the paragraph, since Ach is common signal in the CNS, confusion is a likely side effect. How are we really supposed to know that???

Yeah, whats worse is that I am a biochemistry major, just took genetics two semesters ago and biochem last semester. Granted, there were a few on there that I shouldn't have missed, but it was a very difficult exam.

Going from ACh being a prominent molecule in the nervous system, that makes sense.

The real way to answer that question is to note that vasoconstriction is the OPPOSITE of what ACh does, paralysis would not happen... and the only thing that would have made me pick the right answer is the fact that "muscle spasm" is the MAIN effect of continual ACh triggering , and that's the only answer to contain it.

Regardless, your AAMC scores are awesome and Kaplan's topicals are notorious for being too difficult.

Yeah, that's all true.

I just didn't think there was any basis for me to assume confusion, but in the passage they mention something about a runny nose, so just assumed perhaps a bloody nose might be reasonable.

Are you saying Ach always acts towards vasodilation? I thought in skeletal muscle it acts as a vasoconstrictor, while it acts as a vasodilator in the digestive system.
