Does anyone else believe that there books, online materials, etc. are just worthless? I feel like my $1500 just went for the access to AAMC #3-10 and some of their practice tests. I've got the Berkeley Review books coming in this week and Examkrackers is already wayyyy better than Kaplan as it is. How do they stay in business? Marketing?

I'm a fan of their biological sciences review book and high yield problem solving guide personally... that's what I've been using this time for my retake since I don't have online access anymore

You proably should have just purchased the books instead. Sorry about that man. Everyone learns differently...

Having taken the class, I would tell anyone to skip the damn class and save your money. Go on ebay and buy the books from a tool like me who shelled out way too much $$$$$. The books (the new ones) are definitely worth it and I'm glad I used them instead of EK/BR/(insert acronym) or any of the other books. The new kaplan books keep it simple and give you what you need to know and nothing else. The other books tend to give you shi* that will be in the passage anyway so you wouldn't need to know it (although it may save you time on the exam, but the returns are greatly diminished with how much time you'd spend learning everything).

In short, get the books online, skip the class, save ur $$, ace the mcat, and be happy 😀 when you're done with this damn test lol

You honestly think Kaplan is better than Berkeley Review and Examkrackers? Btw, what online materials are you using from them? What do you find to be the most valuable?

I bought the kaplan materials off a friend... I'm not sure sure if they're the newest got them last year but I found BR much more helpful. I think kaplan stays in buiness because they're just that famous in terms of everyone knows their name and its normally either them or TPR in most places....

Kaplan sucks. But it's not the worst. Barron's is.

After you take a practice test, there are video explanations of each question + answer + how to arrive at it multiple ways.

i thought kaplan was good. the online topicals, sectional, and subject tests cover a lot of stuff. 11 Kaplan full lengths, AAMC 3-10, their books are good for physics and bio. I didnt open the verbal, because it sucked. Kaplan combined with EK 101 Verbal book should be a good deal. But yea the class sucked, and thats where you lose most of you money

I only used Kaplan for my MCAT prep. My score jumped from a 26 diagnostic to a 38. I haven't looked at many other materials but I'd definitely recommend Kaplan.

I won't be using Kaplan for anything other than practice tests. I had a really bad experience with them in high school for the ACT. My parents paid alot of money for me to do the course, and I honestly felt I got no benefit from it.

I don't think kaplan is that bad. Classroom is a waste of time but this would apply to TPR too from what I've heard. The Kaplan review books for PS annoy me, but I liked the how the O Chem book was organized as well as the Biology one. My diagnostic was a 20 a year before I started preparing, and I got decent improvement with (mostly) Kaplan materials.

Classroom time is a complete waste. Skim the books and do end-of-chapter problems... Memorize most of the physics equations and SOME of the chem equations they give you. The SAT that I took 2 weeks after finishing Kaplan in HS was 300 points lower than my second run months later, after forgetting all their "strategies." And yes, I spent time practicing everything. Kaplan just leaves a bad taste in my mouth overall. Sorry, rant over
