I got this email from KAPLAN today and have not noticed any differences in my QBank as they describe. Maybe they come out on the 14th???
Anybody know what this is all about? Gettin' gauged against others across the country sounds pretty cool but the rest seems dumb.
I emailed them to ask them when we can expect changes but I haven't heard back.
the email from them is listed below.
Kaplan Medical's USMLE Step 1 Qbank 2006 Welcome to Your Next-Gen Qbank
Dear Dr. Hokis,
Kaplan Medical is pleased to announce our Next Gen Qbank!
Kaplan Medical's Qbank already allows you to create personalized practice tests, receive immediate onscreen feedback, and review detailed explanations of right and wrong answers. Now our Qbank helps you track your performance and compare it to other Qbank takers so that you can more accurately identify your strengths and weaknesses!
Below are the descriptions of these new features.
Graphical performance tracks your performance on individual tests over time.
Use this feature to track your performance in Qbank over the course of your enrollment. Each bar represents an individual test and is organized by date. A corresponding bar provides a comparison of other Qbank-user results based on the same randomly generated series of questions.
Compare your results with others.
Analyze your performance compared with thousands of other Qbank test-takers. You may now view the performance of other Qbank users on individual questions, as well as a series of questions!
Flag questions from all created tests.
Use this feature to flag questions in "Review This Test" mode so you can access them more easily at a later date.* You may choose to flag questions to more easily group them within important teaching or testing principles and/or as a reminder to review the content at a later date. You may choose to flag questions you answered correctly as well as incorrectly.
Sort and Create tests using flagged items only.
Select questions from the Flagged Items page to create timed tests with flagged items only. From this page you can also manage your flagged items and delete questions you no longer want flagged. You can also sort questions by category or the time test was taken by clicking the column headers on this page.
The Quick Jump to Navigation Bar is now located on the left-hand side to more accurately reflect the exam's software interface.
*Note: You may only flag questions in tests that were created after this new feature was released on February 14, 2006.
Reviewing a Question
See what percentage of the thousands of Qbank users got this question correct.
Flag important questions so you can access them and review the teaching points later in the course of your studies.
Flagging Items
*Note: You may only flag questions in tests that were created after this new feature was released on February 14, 2006.
How to flag an item: You may flag items only when reviewing questions in the Review This Test mode. Click on the gray flag, seen on the upper right-hand corner in the Review This Test mode, to flag the item. The flag will appear red, and the question can be accessed more easily from the Flagged Items navigation button on the left-hand side of the Qbank screen.
How to view a flagged item: Flagged items may be tracked and accessed by clicking on the Flagged Items navigation button on the left side of the screen. Flagged items are shown in the table organized by the date and time when an item was flagged. When an individual item is flagged more than once in different tests, it is listed as a single entry with multiple dates and times.
Managing your Flagged Items page: From the Flagged Items screen, you may delete individual items by selecting the box and then clicking the Delete Selected button at the top right of the screen.
How to Create a Test using flagged items only: From the Flagged Items screen, you can create a test using individual flagged items by selecting the box(es) corresponding to the question and clicking the Create Test with Selected button in the top right-hand side of the screen. This will automatically generate a test in the Timed testing mode.
