Hello Everyone,

To those that have taken Kaplan to prepare for the OAT, I was wondering what your thoughts were on the on-demand course vs. the on-site course? Is the on-site course very intense and minimally helpful vs. the on-demand course where you learn at your own pace? Pro's & Con's of each?

Thank you in advance for the help! Since the start of joining the SDN Forums, I've appreciated all of the wonderful help.

I do both. I listen to it online before class, there's a link that says watch video and the whole lecture is there then I go to class and ask questions!

Don't you find the on-site course hard to keep up with? For Biology 2, the instructor will cover from Chapters 5-16 and for Organic Chemistry 2, the instructor will cover from Chapters 5-15, all in a 3 hour lecture.

It's no easier to keep up with online and it's easier to get distracted. Just throwing that out there.

Hi Roffles,

Indeed, I agree. How was your overall Kaplan experience? Did you take the on-site course? I'm going to stick with it.

I took the online course because there were no Kaplan centers near me. I used their online tests that came with the program to study, and that's really all I did. Worked out well and I'd recommend it to anyone.

I took the on site course and I highly recommend it. It's great having a teacher right there in front of you to answer all your questions. I was not in school while I was taking the kaplan course so I had a lot of time. The on site course can be time consuming but I had no problem keeping up. I am no overachiever or straight A student, and it wasn't that bad.

I would also highly recommend the Kaplan on-site. I took it earlier this year and got a great OAT score. I think the added commitment of going to class and the human interaction makes a big difference.

Although, if you're really motivated and tight on cash, you could just buy used kaplan materials for 70-80 dollars and study yourself. You'd still have all the information you need to do well at a fraction of the cost

Honestly I suggest chads, Kaplan big books, and destroyer and you are set!
