Has anyone taken the Kaplan in-class course?

If so, how effective was it? And would you recommend it?
Tips? Experiences?

Also, when I called up my local Kaplan center, they said a separate OAT class isn't offered, but rather a combined DAT/OAT class. How similar are the two exams?

Any input is welcomed!

The DAT and OAT are basically the same except the DAT doesn't have physics, and they have one section that we don't, I forget what it's called. I didn't take the class, but I've heard it's very helpful if you feel a class will help you prepare. I just bought the gigantic Kaplan book from someone and used that to study.

this question has already been asked many times in many other threads. please use the search function. there's a link labeled "search" at the top of the forum

I took the class. Got mostly Bs and a couple Cs in all the chem and physics when I took the actual classes years ago, failed to pay much attention as well in them. Got my act together for my major classes (bio) so my cumulative Gpa is ok.

The Kaplan class is an EXCELLENT review. They provide you with all the study materials you could ever want, and they have current professional students (in my case dental and med students) teach the class that scored in the 95th percentile on their DAT or MCAT. The DAT is the EXACT SAME TEST as the OAT except for the DAT has "perceptual ability" (ability to rotate complicated 3D objects in your head) while OAT has physics. There is no optometry college here, so my Kaplan program had me with the DAT students for everything, except for when they were doing perceptual ability, OAT students were with a med student learning physics. The MCAT physics sections are extremely similar to the OAT physics sections.

They teach to the test, and there was not a single concept on my OAT that was not covered in the Kaplan preparation material. It really helped on physics because they just told you which formulas you need to memorize and which you don't need to memorize, there was also concepts presented in the Kaplan class that was on my OAT, that was not covered in the actual classes when I took them.

I ended up getting 360 AA, and 370 TS and I am convinced I would have scored much lower without having taken the class.
