I know there is a Kaplan forum but there was not much info on it.

Has anyone taken the Kaplan online class?
Was it worth it?

i thought it was good, it was alot better than I had anticipated. you can see a live feed of the teacher, and if you have questions you can type it in, and they have one Teachers Assistant to answer ur questions in either a private chat or the public one where most of the students are typing their questions. IT is pretty sweet.

I found the Kaplan course useless. It's expensive. Use that money to purchase the Kaplan book along with the destroyer, top score, etc and study on your own. It will give you more exposure

Its expensive and all they do is give you a timeline of what to study then you log on and take an exam. . . Better off studying on your own on your own time and taking harder exams than the kaplan ones that give you a false sense of security.

Well that depends on:

If you don't have to worry about money then I think you should purchase the online portion. I felt going to classes are useless and you can use those time to study on your own. I liked the online portion because it allows you to do many problems. I bought both Kaplan stuff and DAT destroyer and sometimes they overlap each other but there is some variety of questions you can encounter by having both.

If you are worried about money, then I suggest DAT destroyer, Crack PAT, topscore, Cliff AP, etc. I took the DAT recently and I just felt the Biology section was just so random. As I am not a bio-major (I am engineer) and I haven't encountered some of the experiment that they had questions on. But DAT destroyer prepares you really well for chem and ochem section.

I took the online course and it was a HUGE time saver for me. You don't have to flip back and forth in a book checking your answers. You can go straight to the questions you got wrong and study that material. It's was also really helpful in telling me what my weak areas were based on questions I got wrong on the practice tests.

Kaplan was the only thing I used. Got 20 AA, 21 TS, 23 PAT... Good enough for me.

I am torn. My on site class was canceled a week before it was going to start. They are offering me an online class or a refund. I dont know what to do.

I am in a similar boat. My Kaplan course (in-class) doesn't start until late June. After reading everything on these blogs for the past few days, most people seem to feel much better as self-directed learners and their scores are testament to that. I am still debating whether or not to take the Kaplan course because I don't know that $1500 is worth it. I took it in 2003 and did ok on the DAT (AA 18) but now that I have been reading everyone's comments, I am second questioning my re-enrollment. I'm inclined to purchasing the Destroyer editions and getting a refund for the Kaplan course.

I'm studying for DAT right now and working full time. So difficult to find time to study though. I am doing online Kaplan and Chad's videos.

What was your study schedule like? Were you taking classes? Had you had your baby yet by then?

I took the Kaplan class and i dont think its worth it. too expensive.
If you can study on your own, dont bother. Get destroyer and chad etc. You can save a lot of money ($1500 = 18 schools 🙂 )
