Hey, do you guys think that taking the kaplan class is worth the 1300 dollars? Does the class have anything valuable to offer that i couldn't learn on my own? 😕

i'm taking the online course right now.
it's a good organized collection of material to study from, but you should definitely supplement it with other stuff.
i'm still going through the material, but so far i think it's great.
it has definitely helped in guiding my studies. 👍

imo.. kaplan is only worthwhile if you need someone to motivate you to study and stick to a regimen; otherwise, its a waste of money. better money is spent on going off of basic preparation tools (books, software, notes, etc.). i took the course and although i did very well on the DAT, i wouldnt have paid kaplan a dime. take it for what its worth.

I agree with the last post. If you need to have a structured course that will keep you accountable for DAT studying, the course could easily be worth whatever they charge. On the other hand, if you feel you can create your own plan and stick to it, perhaps you should save the $$ for dental school (or at least all of the application fees).

If you're concerned with DAT content, I think there are plenty of sources you can use besides the Kaplan course.

kaplan has valuble material if use it well and by that I mean do all the material maybe even twice. Save money buy not taking the classes cause they are useless just do the online course

Kaplan was overpriced but it works. I started with an 18.5 (AA) on my pre-test and got a 23 when I actually took it. The online course was great because I was working full time and could take the classes on my own schedule. They have lots of material and lots of practice!

yea i agree with the above posts. The classes are useless, but the online material is great to help you get acquainted with the DAT. Do everything they have online.

I agree w/ the above post, I would suggest taking the online course only if you need a structured schedule, if you study well on your own, dont waste your money. I took the in-person classes and ended up missing them because I was commuting to Chicago all the time after my own classes and it was just getting too hectic to commute, so I would watch the on-line video material at my apt and take the Centers tests, that's what made me more confident to tackle it, I think the online instructors knew their stuff more than the in-class guys. Bottom line - if you must take the class, take it on-line, so you can work it into your own schedule.

I think for the money you will pay for the online course, better options are available that may be even more successful for you.

Kaplan is a great start to your studying but you will need more to fill in the gaps. Kaplan is not in anyway close to being comprehensive to what you will see come test day but it is a good organized overview of the materials.
