So I sat down today and read CH 1-9 in kaplan orgo..learned nothing new. There's so much stuff missing

Are people serious when they say kaplan is sufficient for organic??? Am I missing something or is it actually insufficient.

hahaha, good question, I thought the same thing.
Kaplan is lacking in many of the more basic reactions.
I have heard many people say the O-chem on real DAT is very straightforward so I think if you just understand the material then you will do good.
But I do mean actually understanding all the reactions.

MAN..I find it ridiculous to see how kaplan can be sufficient lol. By understanding the reactions do you mean mechanisms included?

imo I think for orgo we need to know: reactions, facts, nomeclature, and sn1 sn2 e1 e2. But I don't know much about the orgo section

I supplement my Kaplan notes with my OCHEM textbook. So anything you feel is inadequate in Kaplan, just use your textbook to supplement and you'll feel better. Then move onto Destroyer

I think Orgo textbook is the way to go.
I wonder if we need to know any of the basic stuff that never really came up on my class tests.

When people say that Kaplan was sufficient, they also mean all the section tests. All the tests and exams on Ochem and Gchem seemed enough to 2 friends of mine who took the exam. One got a 22, 22 on both Chem sections and the other got higher...
You could always supplement it with Destroyer and then Topscore/ achiever... There's only so much you could know for the chem section, unlike Bio 😱, which is endless!!!

I do have to say that Kaplan has some very tough Kaplan questions in their practice exams.
