Ok y'all... so I am rocking out on the Kaplan PAT right now, and I am in the middle of a the online practice tests and I am either getting them all right for angle ranking and top front, or I am getting like one wrong... My point is... is this Kaplan an accurate representation of how the real DAT is, I have CDP, but I haven't really gotten into it because I wanted to warm up with the Kaplan (and I am taking it in three weeks and I left PAT to the end)... Can anyone give me and help with this... Is Kaplan way easier or did something just click...

PS before last week I was getting most of them wrong, everywhere...

oh and sorry for how crazy I sound... I have serious cabin fever and I am totally stir crazy!!

I only used Kaplan for the PAT, on the practice tests I averaged 22-24, on the real thing a 25. So I recommend it.

Hey Toothprincess,

I only used Kaplan PAT as well. I was getting mostly 20's and 19's on the practice tests and ended up with an 18 on the actual DAT. I think kaplan's angles are too easy. Everything else was right on target. I didn't even learn how to do top front end until the week of the DAT. Just practice over and over. I found it best to eliminate the wrong answers first. Hope that helps.

I only used Kaplan also. I was getting 20's and 21's on Kaplan and I got a 17 on the real thing. I have been using CDP to study for my retake and I recommend it. It is a lot more difficult than Kaplan and I think that it is comparable to the real PAT.

hello~

I thought the KAPLAN PAT was way too easy compared to the real thing...

I always scored 24 or better... or even 29's with KAPLAN stuff...
on the real thing I scored 24....

In my opinion... your real score will be around -4 or -5 KAPLAN PAT simulations...

The Achiever is the only PAT practice that was close to the real thing...

hope this helps... ^^

it really does help... i am all over that now and also all over the cdp because it really is easy... bc after doing all of them i thought... this is too good to be true!!

thanks for everything y'all 😀

I did forget, the angles in Kaplan are WAY WAY too easy.

ToothPrincess,

Did you use both the Crack the PAT and the Achiever? Any suggestions on which is better? to me it looks like the Crack the PAT is more comprehensive. thanks in advance, PR

GoBears,

First of all are you in Chicago?? I am in Chicago and if you didnt have achiever or CDP we could meet in Harold Washington and help you out a bit...

Next I honestly havent really gotten into achiever yet, I have it, but I just have been focusing on everything else, but I think that CDP is awesome... and as someone suggested in a previous post I take a break from science using CDP, so I do... I sometimes do it while watching tv and I got the most with something like 10,000 different possibilities so I want to get my moneys worth... lol... I dont know if this is helpful at all, but I hope that it is... I will repost when I do achiever tonight, but I wanted to respond quickly befor ethe post gets lost...

Oh yeah, ToothPrincess... I forgot to tell you about my experience on the PAT last week...

1. the angle ranking section... was hard

I was quite confident with angle ranking... but the angles were... very very close- you really have to use your nails and fingers on the screen to approximate

I have about 4-5 friends who wrote the DAT in the past 3 weeks...

3 of them had the same problem (10 out of 15 angle ranking questions insane) and 2 of them had easy ones (like KAPLAN, where you can find out most of the answers by knowing the smallest and the largest angles).

2. hole punching...I remember was quite challenging as well... but you can get it all if you concentrate hard

all the other sections were slightly harder than KAPLAN, and easier than The Achiever

BEST OF LUCK TOOTHPRINCESS!!!

I was averaging 22-23 on kaplan and got a 20 on the real thing. What i noticed about the differences between the two was not necessarily the difficulty but the type of PAT material. What I mean by this is that in the keyhole Kaplan tends to use big complicated shapes with a lot of stuff going on. The DAT on the other hand uses much simpler shapes but what makes it hard is that all o fthe choices are very similar. You need to make sure you are able to pay close attention to every little detail.

My Top Front End was harder on the real thing than kaplan and so was angle. Pattern folding was similar to keyhole in that the shapes were not hard but the choices were very similar.

When I say harder by the way for TFE and angle it was not way harder just a little harder. Angle is more similar to Topscore than Kaplan. Angle choices are easier to narrow down than Kaplan.

Just do as many questions as you can from different sources. I thought Kaplan was easy too, but be prepared to see some unexpected questions if that's your ONLY material for PAT.

Hi Tooth Princess,

No, unfortunately I'm not in Chicago (Cal Bears), but I wish I was so I could get some good food and watch the Bears try to win with a real QB this week.

I think you'll do great, just like the others said - the real thing was a bit harder than Kaplan but not by much. I'm planning to go with CDP, but one more question - is there a big difference between the Royal Flush vs. the one just below it? I guess it would be worth it if there was added instruction or tips, but I don't feel like I need 10,000 questions!

Thanks again, don't spend too much time on the forum or watching TV - there's nothing good on anyway! good luck...

Kaplan and topscore are definately too easy. One thing that got me on the angles was that there were lines between all of the angles, kind of like they were in boxes. The practice tests never had that and I was always able to squint a little bit and makes them come closer, but on the real thing I couldn't. I always got between 13-14 correct on practice tests.

my opinion after taking the DAT.... my first thoughts were... WTF... the PAT was insane.... i scored high on every PAT i every took... and on the real one i felt like i was just guessing on every problem.. i got a 19 only b/c im a beast and got super lucky.... cubes are 10000 times harder than kaplan and hole punching is insane.... i think the PAT is the hardest section when your very nervous.... luckily... the PAT really means nothing unless you get very low.... sciences and GPA have to be more important
