I decided that I'd like to see where I stand before any DAT-specific studying (but having taken one bio course and both chemistry and orgo courses) so I took the practice test in the Kaplan Seventh Edition Book, these were my scores:

Bio: 16 (1 away from 17 because of a mis-mark lol)
Chem: 17
Orgo: 18
Total Science: 17 (1 away from 18 because of that same mis-mark)
PAT: 17
RC: 19 (First 2 passages seemed very easy but I ran out of time on the 3rd and basically guessed for almost all of those questions)
QR: 30 (????)

I wouldn't be happy with these scores if I was taking the test but they seem OK for not having studied yet, my goal is 20+ and I'd be very happy with 21+ which I think is very possible if these are accurate. Having said that....

1. Whats the deal with the QR section? Is Kaplan known for being easy with that because I've only taken up to calc A but I thought these questions were almost all very easy and could have been answered as a sophomore-junior in high school or earlier.

2. Wiki says AA is calculated as the average of the scores not including PAT so I guess a 20?

3. Any thoughts? As I said I haven't started studying yet (not taking it until next July or so) but if something jumps out to any of you I'd like to hear your input.

That's a great start!! I know I scored much lower on my "diagnostic" and ended up with a pretty decent score!

Thanks. Any thoughts on the QR section? I was really surprised by it. I've heard Kaplans PAT is too easy but haven't heard that about the QR section.

Anyone else have input?

QR is similar, but probably too easy. I would get more bio resources. Hit Chad's videos for the chems. You're in good shape to begin.

Thanks, as of now my plan is to do DentalWorks 8 week study guide over the course of 12 weeks or so. I'm also going to be taking "biology of the eukaryotic cell" and "Genetics" before I end up taking the DAT, but I'm not sure either of those are very relevant to the bio material. A little bit I guess but it seems I'll have to get most of my ecology/other info from the study sources.

By the way for the QR section I used my graphing calculator but didn't use the trig functions, just addition/subtraction/division/multiplication and I think square root. I wasn't 100% sure what was allowed but I believe that's it.

yep, that's fine. I haven't taken the DAT but i hear its a really simple calc, and what u did fits the discription. I'm just worried about sq root; if it was like 1600, then u should know it, but if it was l542380 then thats fine. Like u should be able to tell if ur supposed to use a calc on a problem based on the #'s.
