Anyone using these without taking the class? I study mainly from the Examkracker review books but I'm finding their bio book to be somewhat confusing. I'm debating whether I should buy the prep course materials or their big review book. Are these books useful/understandable if you are not taking the prep course?
Thanks!

science review in big book = science review in prep course books
(no difference at all, just thinner paper)

However, if you're confused on bio, I'd sink the money into a good bio text instead - there is a lot of extra stuff in the Kaplan review book and it is often presented in a very confusing way (e.g. hormones, molecular biology). See if you can find the book in a local book store so you can check it out before buying.

You can buy the actual Kaplan lecture books from students on EBay.
