I hope some of you can chime in on this with your experience/knowledge.

Started doing kaplan just to give myself an extra qbank to do.....first question I do is about a patient with classic symptoms of Legionella...cruise ship...diarrhea/confusion etc etc. Question is what is the most app treatment?

A: IV Macrolides...because tests take too long to come back so start empirically.

Every source I have come accross says Quinolones first line....then maybe macrolides!

Is there some knowledge I am missing or is Kaplan that blatantly wrong and a bad question bank? Becuase the way I see it if its THIS bad....then theres no point in doing anymore questions.

Anybody with an input I will forever be grateful.

In First Aid for Step 1 2018, Page 143 for Legionella pneumophila it says “macrolide or quinolone”. On Page 679 quick treatment review for Legionella says macrolides. My school just mentioned both, never said one or the other front line.

thanks everywhere I have read...uptodate OME seems like theres 1st line choice of quinolones and 2nd line as macrolides. But thanks I was about to pull my hair out because I couldnt find where Kaplan was getting its question/info from
