how does Kaplan reading comprehension compare to the real dat?

i literally got the same score on every single kaplan RC i took and got that same score on the real DAT.

i think it's safe to say they are pretty much on par, although i felt the questions were a little simple on the real DAT. the rest depends on luck.

did you take the DAT's recently? b/c i keep reading on the forums that search and destroy doesnt work for RC anymore and they ask a lot of tone/inference questions. ...i 've been using s&d so far. ur opinion?

I used search and destroy and got a 20 in RC. You can use it if you're sufficient enough at it. I'm not a fast reader and thats what I used

I took my DAT today and for the first two passages I had a TON of tone/inference so I would have been screwed w/out first reading the passage. The thirs one was more of a search and destroy i guess but it was luckily an easy genetics topic that I was very familiar with so i didnt have to read to answer most of the questions. The passages were longer than topscore but not in near as much detail. Maybe I just happened to get a very tone/inference heavy exam but in my opinion don't use search and destroy.
Got 23 AA but only 19 RC tho.. but just wanted to give you my opinion

reading recently on sdn that s&d doesnt work... and there are a lot of tone/inference questions as you said...so now i 'm just wondering if i should start practing w/ another method. dat in 3 wks :/

i took my DAT last week. i mapped each passage while reading through the whole thing. as long as you don't take more than 5 minutes to do that, you are fine on time with going through all the questions. 3 weeks is plenty of time if you are feeling the need to change your style...i only had 4 weeks to study in the first place.

when i refer to kaplan i mean their practice material and not their strategies. i have been using their practice material and have scored well on them, but i have also used crack dat reading and have been scoring lower using this. anyone have any experience with kaplan material in reading and how it compares to the real thing?

i did refer to their materials. i thought i had mentioned that the real thing was pretty much on par with kaplan. i only used kaplan material to study for rc and i did a ton of their rc tests. same score on each of them. that exact score on real dat. you will be well prepared with kaplan rc materials, nothing seemed to come out of left field.
