I have the new Kaplan USMLE step 1 lecture notes but do not have the lecture videos. Do the lecture videos add that much supplemental info to the notes. If I cant get the videos is there any other way to fill in whatever they teach in these classes/videos? Thanks!

I have Webprep. I watched a bit of the videos, and they don't seem to add much outside of the lecture notes, at least not for Biochem. For Biochem, IMO the lecture notes are more than enough. I plan to use the videos only if I am struggling in a section.

I personally think that the lecture videos help out quite a bit, perhaps its just because it provides a "flow", so its easier making sense out the notes. Other than that, the lectures notes are pretty complete.

If you get stuck up on something just google it or read that portion from a textbook and annotate accordingly.

they add some mnemonics and general flavor. but you aren't 'missing' anything that isn't explained in the text.

Stupid question, but where exactly can I get the notes/videos? Is it just on Kaplan's main website?

(Sorry, I'm feeling especially lazy right now).

The videos are hit and miss. I felt like the biochem one was great. Micro/Immuno wasn't because the lecturer basically read off the notes in the lecture book. Physio was AWESOME I thought. I think it basically comes down to personal preference though. Overall the lecture notes are sufficient. If you are pressed for time then watch the videos only to clarify something.

I used the videos/lecture notes for biochemistry and the way that they constantly refer back to the overall metabolism figures, etc I think you'd be doing yourself a disservice by not watching the videos along with it. But if you watch the videos on like 1.5-2x speed and then read the corresponding sections immediately afterwards then you've already covered the material twice in a short period of time. At the very least I'd suggest watching them for biochem. But I didn't use Kaplan for many other subjects, so could be beneficial for all??
