Sorry if this is covered somewhere else, but I couldn't find it.

Has anyone used these books and found them helpful? I'm wondering if it's worth shelling out money for them. Please respond ASAP because I found a pretty good deal on them that will expire soon. Thanks for any help!

Every Kaplan product ever made (save MAYBE step 2 qbank) is a gift from the heavens to medical students. I use them and gladly shell out the cash. They are awesome.

That being said, DO NOT pirate those books. Thats illegal.

If you buy them from some one else, make sure they are updated. Dont get anything before 2008. While the information and layout hasnt changed THAT much, its worth it to get the new ones, even if you have to buy tthem from Kaplan.

The books + videos/live lecture is by far the best deal, no matter how much you pay. If you want to do well on Step 2, and heaven forbid, learn some medicine, the Kaplan program is the best on the market.

Not a Kaplan employee, but a definitive Kaplan Junky (MCAT, Step 1, Step 2)

Slowlybutshelly clearly has pirated copies of the kaplan books. No cover in the pdf format eh? The pages are white, but the cover is a different color. If you have a Kaplan book with a white cover, seriously get a new one. If you actually own them the covers are red. They used to be YELLOW in 05, and are RED since 07ish

No, I do not have pirated copies of Kaplan books. I have very old Kaplan materials. These are books circa 2000; standard white covers with an emblem on them. I have not used Kaplan since then. So I am not familiar with any new red books per se.

I love the "don't pirate books" judgment, and then the comment to make sure you buy red books from someone else vs. others, lol. Since you also are not supposed to "buy kaplan books" (or sell them) to someone else....it's like saying "don't download music from limewire, it's illegal...instead, use torrents!"

Do they come out yearly like the step1 books or is it different? If so, which is the latest set?

Not really. I can buy a TV from Best Buy then sell it to some guy on craigslist. That isnt stealing, nor is it piracy. They aren't electronic media, they are a physical copy.

If I downloaded the pdf version of the Kaplan materials and sold a copy of the file, THAT is piracy.

If i made photocopies of the original material and sold the copies, THAT is piracy.

If I own a physical copy of a book and sell the physical copy of the book, that's just reselling. Honestly, the company may ask someone not to do it, but if I've been sold a product and don't need it anymore, it is mine to sell. If the company that issued me the physical copy didn't intend on me owning it, it should have been rented, not sold. And I would have paid significantly less to use a rented piece of material.

BTW, i wouldnt sell my Kaplan stuff, its too good.

They do come out each year. How much ACTUALLY changes, Im not sure (probably just the number on the cover). So if you know a dude who took the course last year, that's totally legit.

Otherwise, its go to Kaplan.com and buy that ****
