I was wondering if anybody did this or if they would recommend it? For example doing the OBGYN videos and book from Kaplan Step 2CK during my OB rotation? If time permits also reading the other books like Blueprints. All of this of course is in addition to doing questions. Thanks 🙂

It's uncanny how there's already a thread exactly about this topic called "Kaplan for Step 2" that's only 2 inches down the screen from your thread. 😱 It's magic!

If you read what I asked you would realize that I'm asking about Kaplan Step 2 books and videos to use for Shelf exams and rotations not for Step 2 studying which is the topic of the other thread.

If you are asking specifically for the shelf you are better off going to the Clinical Rotation area for discussion. There is a long ongoing thread about the various resources used for the Shelf. I personally used UWorld, blueprints, and read through case files when I had downtime in my rotation. It got me 95 raw score, 99%. I didn't know of anyone that used the videos, but you may have better luck in the clinical rotations section getting an answer about the kaplan videos. Good luck

I bought Kaplan for Step 2 CK but I did use the videos for my surgery shelf. All I did for the shelf was 1x through the surgery videos, the quizzes on Kaplan, and UWorld questions. I scored right at average on the shelf which is where I usually fall. I haven't really started studying for family medicine shelf but will be starting this week (5 weeks of rotation left and I'm finishing up the "busy month" of the 8 week rotation this coming week). I am hoping to get through the internal medicine lectures and psych lectures for this shelf. Internal was last July/Aug so not as fresh and psych was my lowest shelf of the year.

My plan is to repeat all the internal medicine lectures again during my dedicated month of study since the general adult medicine stuff is my weakness (Ob/Gyn and Pedi have been my best scoring rotations and I want to go into Peds).

Hello:

For shelf examinations, I felt uWorld + other qbanks if you have time and $ + Blueprints were more than enough.

But I also used the Kaplan videos and it explained certain concepts well. At the very least, it allowed me to survive nearly every pimping question that was thrown my way

I've used the videos at times that I'm to lazy to read a book. And by that I mean that I hate reading books, and have used the videos to study for tests and shelfs. I have not failed a test/shelf yet *knock on wood*.

Thanks. I'm not using illegal videos just trying to figure out if its worth it to buy the Kaplan course for Shelf exams throughout the year instead of doing the books that most use (i.e. for IM rotation instead of using Step Up to Medicine, Case Files, etc. using Kaplan Internal Medicine). Thanks to anyone that can chime in.
