You are correct that there are not enough classroom hours in the Kaplan course to present these topics as new material. However, this is not their purpose. The purpose of the lectures is to provide an overview of the material in your Bio1 and 2, Chem 1 and 2, organic 1 and 2, and physics 1 and 2 classes that are relevant to the MCAT, and to condense them into the most high-yield topics. The lectures also provide you with an opportunity to ask questions about anything you may not be understanding about the material. To take the Kaplan course in lieu of the university courses would be highly ineffective, as they are only meant as a material review. The most important key to success is to study outside of class, and use the class time as a chance to clear up the stumbling points. The practice tests are also the biggest benefit to the classes. So, the answer to your question as to whether to take the class or not is going to be based on whether you feel you need TEST PREP help, not subject matter help. Test taking skills and practice exams are the main things you're going to gain that you wouldn't have gotten from the university courses you're supposed to take.
