So I just realized that I know 0 physiology, and just know some bio about recombinant DNA and biochemistry (like I know how DNA replicates, about protein synthesis, etc.). I don't know genetics either. Also, I've only had one semester of Ochem, so I don't know a few of the reactions (but those are easy to study) and I don't know NMR or the other spectrometry methods.

Given that, which is better for me? I've been leaning towards Kaplan because I've heard TPR has way too much material and they spend the class time just going over material, which I can do on my own. But on the other hand, if I don't know so much of the material, is a course that covers a lot of content going to be good for me?

Thanks.

Start studying way early, get ahold of the TPR materials via ebay or craigslist or something, and you'll be fine. Use kaplan to cross reference. Just start early. The earlier you start studying, the better IMHO. If you start early you still have time to get "burned out" and then fire up the engines again and you've got time to really pick apart the tests.

I have access to both sets of reading materials from friends that have taken the course. Which course do you think is better for me to take? Are you saying take kaplan and just get the TPR materials?

get TPR and get Examcrackers biology/audio osmosis (their bio prep are second to none) to supplement... If you feel like you need more info/help consult a good biology textbook.

Hope this helped.

Which course should I sign up for? I'm willing to put down $60 here and there for extra books, but I need to decide the course so I can sign up for the test date and buy plane tickets home.

Well I took TPR just because it is the only thing that is offered near me.. The lectures helped, but it really got sloppy towards the end...they tried to fit about 5x physics lectures into a weekend which was not a free weekend for me.... I heard a lot of good things about examckrackers, but it is not offered everywhere. Their set of books though is phenomenal.
