hey guys..what do you guys think of kaplan's in class course? I just started and did HORRIBLE on the diagonistics (academic avg -14, and pat -14). I've heard ppl say kaplan's questions are harder than real DAT questions...is that true?

thanks in advance for the feed back. 😕

some questions are harder, some are not, but most people tend to do poorly like u on the diagnostic. your scores will improve if u do the work

i think the kaplan classes are expensive.. if you are motivated enough to study on your own, i think that money can go towards additional study materials.

Hi,

Yes, that Kaplan course was so damn expensive but I think it's definitely worth it, if and only if, you plan to do MOST of their exercises. And show up for class. It's very easy to think that you'll do the same if you don't show up for class but in my case, it makes a huge difference. Simply hearing repetitative materials helps you retain them that much better. So, my advice is: take the course, do the exercises as scheduled, and go to class.

I second that. The course was really helpful for me.

I think the course is good. Is it worth the large price tag? Ehh, depends on what kind of student you are. For me the course was worth it. I scored 14's on the diagnostic like you, but boosted up to 20+ in all sections except QR (doh! I still can't add worth a damn) by the time the actual DAT rolled around. Don't sweat it, study the material, go to all sessions, study/review harder once the course is done, and you'll do fine.

In all honesty, those diagnostics are the hardest tests you will take because of Kaplan's garuntee. They want you to do well, and if you start off with a dismal score, then you will think you're doing better as you continue through the class. Don't get me wrong, you probably will do better. But I've never heard of a prep class where they didn't make you think that you needed it first.

Princeton Review totally does this with the MCAT, my first scores were like sixes and nines, by the end of the course you are convinced you will kick butt. Bottom line, work hard, and take advantage of all the extra stuff Kaplan offers you as far as tests, it's the only thing that makes the program worth any $.
