how good are the kaplan's practice tests for reading?

Lol, same here. I have been getting 22's on Kaplan and need those points to make up for my QR. It's not the best strategy but it beats studying math.

I don't think they are accurate at all. Kaplan doesn't have those tone type of questions, which you will see alot of on the real thing.

what are other RC practice materials that i can use besides kaplan, achiever, topscore. thanks!

I've used both strategys and recieved the same score. On the real DAT im going to search and destroy though, since it takes less time.
