Kappa Psi

For those of you who don't know, Kappa Psi is a Professional Pharmacy Fraternity. It also happens to be the oldest and largest pharmaceutical fraternity. There are chapters across the US and in Canada and the Bahamas.

I have it on good authority that requesting signatures is not a secret of Kappa Psi and is done to encourage their Brothers to get to know each other on a professional and personal level.

A large goal of professional fraternities is to encourage a support system within a group of folks in the same profession who may meet similar challenges. They strive to develop their brothers into leaders and to improve the profession as a whole.

And lets be real... if anyone did divulge secrets you know they would disappear off the face of the earth as traitors of secret societies often do... 😉

This is a very old debate that will never be resolved. Kappa Psi was founded before Phi Delta Chi. Kappa Psi was founded as a medicinal and pharmaceutical fraternity while Phi Delta Chi was founded as solely a pharmaceutical fraternity.

This is why Phi Delta Chi likes to claim they are the "oldest" but in reality they are a younger organization.

You may want to be sure of your facts before telling others to "check" theirs. 😉

Phi Delta Chi changed their name because there was an existing medical fraternicy Phi Chi. It was not a medical fraternity, it was started by pharmacy students in Ann Arbor. Kappa Psi was started at a now defunct Military Prep School (whose dean was a local physician).

Kappa Psi split and the medicinal fraternity took the name Theta Kappa Psi. To my knowledge, Theta Kappa Psi only has 1 chapter in existence.

Kappa Psi in its inception included both pharmacy and medicinal students at Russel Military Academy.
