I'm taking the MCAT next April and I decided to take the mini-MCAT offered on Kaplan's website. I scored a 7 in each section. This does not bode well. . .Of course, I still have to take physics, so talking about that is pointless. I was wondering if anyone had taken this exam and what they thought of it. Is it a fact that Kaplan's questions are much harder than the questions on the real MCAT?

you're fine. i took a kaplan diag with no prep and scored a 6V, 4P, 9B!!! i nearly had a heart-attack. i scored in the mid-30's on the real thing, so there's no need to worry. they want you to feel like you're improving as you go along w/ their course/materials, i.e. getting your $$$ worth.

Funny little anecdote about that Kaplan thing. I took the mini test twice... Once about a month before I enrolled in a class - and I got a 21 on it with no preparation whatsoever. Then I took it again (because my school offered it and I didn't realize it was going to be the same test) about halfway through my Kaplan course. Interestingly, I scored a total of 7 - yes that is combined - on the test the second time around. After a heart attack, a stroke, and an asthma attack, I realized that there was no way that could be right, and when I looked at the first test I took and compared the answers, I found that they must have graded mine against the wrong key or something... I ended up getting a 30 on the real thing this past April, so I'm still holding out on the opinion that the 7 was a fluke. Just a hunch. :wink:

don't worry. its a real hard test that mini test. i took that one and got 34 but got 40 on the real thing. i took the mcat in aug and got a 36 so i actually did worse on the kapln than both mcat testings. of course, if u haven't even taken physics yet...haha don't worry

similar situation. don't remember the breakdown, but scored total 27 on Kaplan mini-test. then scored mid-30s on the real thing. don't sweat it.
