A monkey is at the top of a tree 4 meters tall and 3 meters away from you. If the monkey were to throw a coconut at your head (assume you are 2 meters in height), where should the monkey aim if he lets go of the tree as he throws the coconut?
A 3 meters from the tree
B 4 meters from the tree
C 6 meters from the tree
D 6 meters behind you
I don't see what they are asking here? Without knowing how hard he throws the coconut, how does this make any sense? I know this is similar to the shooting an arrow at a monkey as he drops from a tree which I fully understand, but what is going on with this question?
And to be even more critical, wouldn't we need to know the mass of the coconut and the monkey because some of the effort in throwing the coconut would cause the monkey to recoil and reduce the horizontal velocity of the coconut.
I have come across several really weird and/or just plain wrong questions on Q-bank. So no, I doubt myself every time I don't understand a question.
I will certainly never buy from Kaplan again.
