Does anyone know what the first year daily schedule is like at KCOM. How long are you in class each day? Thanks!!!
Hi, I'm currently a first year at KCOM. There really isn't a 9-5 general pattern to our daily schedule, but I'll try to break it down for you. =)
Days almost always start at 8AM, unless we have an exam, which can bump it up to 7:30AM, or we have an occasional treat of having classes start at 9AM. Lectures are usually 50 minutes long.
Our first quarter consists of the following classes: Biochemistry, Histology/Embryology, Anatomy, Complete DOctor, OTM. Anatomy lecture/lab happens about an average of twice a week. OTM can vary from 3 hours a week to a bazillion. We have biochem and/or histology almost everyday.
We usually have all of our classes except for Anatomy and lab sections in the morning. After an hour lunch (noon-1PM), we have Anatomy lecture and lab right after. Other things that can occur on non-anatomy afternoons are Complete DO labs/reviews, Biochem PBL sections, OTM help sessions, Histo lab.
Attendance is not mandatory to lectures unless specified, but is most definitely required at OTM, Anatomy, and Complete DO labs.
Short answer to your question, however, is that we usually are in class at 8AM and on a really good short day, end by 2PM or even noon, and on lab days, it can go as late as 4PM or 5PM.
I hope this answers your question and then some. =)
