KCOM states that you need to have your SS# listed on your letters of recommendation. How do I request my writer to do this? Is it acceptable for him to put "blah blah <name> (ss# XXXX) where xxxx are the last four digits of my social?

Wierd requirement.

They didn't have that requirement last year. Never heard of it.

It was in their written letter to me. Anyhow, I don't think it's that big of an issue. What's really concerning me is the fact that they have these online forms downloadable to fill out and send with your letters. Unfortunately, my professor wrote my recommendation last semester. He has since moved out of state..

The letter has all the elements that are on the form: My rights waived, my info, his signature, name, address, and phone number, etc. However, I'm an anal premed and it says the letter should include that form. I don't even have my professor's new contact information. bleh

thanks for your response 🙂

get over it and move on... 😀

:scared:

My premed office handled that for me. I asked the to put my SS# on all my LOR.

My AACOMAS was sent to all school on 8/3 and I haven't received an invite to fill out secondary from KCOM (same with NYCOM). Does their screening take a while, if they do screen?

I don't think they meant it needed to be on the letters, just on any correspondence you have with the school. But you should call the school to clarify.

I had the same thing happen, sort of. I gave the forms to my premed office and they forgot to send them. So, I called KCOM, and the lady I talked to said it was fine that they didn't get sent. Hope that helps!

Give the letter writer a little packet that includes a stamped envelope with the proper address on it and a typed note to your writer clearly stating all the necessary details that need to be included in the letter he writes.
Even put the address down again in case something happens.

That is a great suggestion.. when I sent my addresses/stamped envelop in June, I included a page in there stating it is fwritten for Mr. So and So nad my SSN# is so and so and also a small statement on waiving my rights to accessing this info (optional) some schools have this on their form. But I did not want to send my evaluater 10 forms to fill out.. so I just made a generic LOR where there is a check off table and space with particular question... just a tip.

That is a good idea, DocBIll! If I ever have to apply to medical schools again (and dear god I hope not) I will certainly use your foolproof method.
