KCU (Joplin)
Pros

• H/P/F grading system
• Great match list
• Lower COL
• Older school, more name recognition
• Dual degree options
• More affordable tuition (est. $54,000)

Cons

• Far away from family (18 hr drive/10 hr flight)
• Would prefer to match on the East Coast
• Less research availability
• Location and weather (but not dealbreakers)

NYIT (Long Island)
Pros

• H/HP/P/F grading system
• Located near a big city
• Great match list
• Well-established program, decent alumni and connections
• Good research opportunities
• Closer to home (8.5 hr drive) and close to extended family (~45 min drive)

Cons

• Expensive tuition (est. $66,000)
• High COL
• Lectures are completely asynchronous

WVSOM
Pros

• Supportive school culture
• Solid match list
• Lower COL
• Closest to home (4 hr drive)
• More affordable tuition (est. $54,000)

Cons

• Traditional grading system
• Will have to move to a different city for rotations
• I don't know if I'd enjoy living in Lewisburg (rural small town vibes)

Summary: I am super thankful to have a few options (am also on the WL for CUSOM)! All of these schools seem to have solid board pass rates too. I keep going back and forth, mostly between KCU and NYIT, and am having a difficult time choosing before deposits are due on 12/14 (screaming internally!). I'm originally from New York, my immediate family lives in Virginia and I'm hoping to match on the East Coast for residency. I'd prefer to be closer to home, but am willing to travel. I would greatly appreciate any feedback, especially from current students enrolled at any of these schools. Thank you so much in advance!
