Dec 14th deadline coming, so I'm sorry to start another School A vs School B thread. I live 40 min from Western. If the two schools were in the same location, I think I would choose KCUMB. But because Western is in California, the decision is so much harder than I thought. If you were presented with this choice, which would u choose? Thanks.

Interesting. I was presented with the same choice last year. Of course, I chose to attend KCUMB. I simply felt more at home at KCUMB than at Western, SoCal weather notwithstanding. Furthermore, I tried on which school I thought would better prepare me personally for residency and decided that KCUMB would be that school. Both are good schools, however. It's just a matter of personal fit. KCUMB felt right. For better, or worse, that's the choice I made.

Hmm... I wanted to go to Western... Until I found out that a bunch of their professors left and came to DCOM. So I chose there. Plus its closer to home. 🙂

I think you should go to the SCHOOL that you feel at home at. As someone who has travelled alot in my life, home is where you make it and sometimes you can be more at 'home' thousands of miles away than you are right next door

I know waht you mean. I'm just afraid that when we're starting out...we think we want to venture out and be on our own. but soon many people realize they actually miss their family and friends. Your interview experience can be deceiving too in turn of feeling at home. I haven't spent enough time in KC to really know if it's right.

Well we just got nailed with an ICE STORM. K-STATE university is without power. Get the picture.???? LOL

I know burt routman moved out there to TN and is teaching at DCOM, who else?

I know the last dean at COMP is now at DCOM, also one of the guys from the admissions office (can't remember his name now, he's really nice).

Eh, either one will do. Both have had their issues and both have their good qualities, too. At the end, either school will get you there. It's a just matter of where you feel most comfortable with. If being in SoCal is important, Western might be better. Westerns has had some issues with board pass rates in the recent past, but it looks like they are well on their way to fixing that issue. KCUMB lost some professors a couple of years ago for unspecified reasons and they now have some new ones who seem pretty green... In general, though, they have a pretty good reputation, which probably preceeds them.
