Would someone who has received the KCUMB secondary please post the essay topics please. I want to know how much work I have ahead of me! Thanks!

In what extracurricular, community/volunteer or vocational acitivities did you participate while in college?

List any other information you believe is pertinent to your application such as, but not limited to, motivation for applying to KCUMB, qualities you have to offer, uniqueness, leadership roles, life experiences, etc.

Does it specify how long these are supposed to be?

They're not so much essays as they are questions asked on the application itself. The first question listed above gives about 7-10 lines for you to write a response. The other question is on one of the last pages of the application and you are given about 2/3 of a page to write any responses you may have.

I'm sure you could attach an actual written answer to both questions, but I thought I remembered seeing something on the application that stated "... attach any additional documents as needed, but please be mindful of the amount of information our admissions team will be going through..." or something to that effect. So I would just jot a few ideas down now and when you get the application just write (or type) your answers on there. Nothing big really...

Hope this helps!

P.S. I think the website to download the secondary is:

http://www.kcumb.edu/application.asp

You should be able to get at it right away...

Thank you!
I had called there yesterday and received a message earlier today from admissions. They said they were processing my app today and I should be getting it later today or tomorrow. Now I can get a head start on it today since I'm back to the grindstone (working) tomorrow and the rest of my summer free time is spent. Phewey. 😛
I appreciate your help! 🙂

What is the "Certification Form" they are referring to on the application checklist? I thought it's the same as the "Technical Standards" form but it's not because both of them are listed on the checklist. Thanks in advance for any info.

How is everyone filling out this secondary? Are you writing it by hand since you cannot type directly on it, or are you using a different Adobe where you can type in it? Thanks for the info!

I used adobe to write on it. If you have the proper version of adobe you can go to view ---> toolbars ---> click advanced editing. then click the little arrow next to the box (third item from the right of the advanced editing box). then click text editing tool. then just keep making boxes in the fields that u want to write in and when u want to write, go to the top left and click the cursor select tool (its a cursor with an arrow next to it and it says select)

I have version 7.0 professional. I wouldn't sweat it if you can't write on it. I was trying to fill mine out by hand, but I kept scrunching words together and having to reprint it(my handwriting is headed downhill reallll fast). So, just write neatly and it will be the same effect.

hmm there is a question (#2) where it asks about employment during school year.......there is no place to check NO. So if you didn't work during school years, do you still put somethin in the currently working section or leave it blank???

I'm confused with this question. Any suggestions on how to fill this part out??

Anyone use a typewriter, or do they even make those things anymore?

If you have not been employed then write "I have not been employed as an undergraduate." or something along those lines.

Yah, that is indeed the same thing.

Thank you. I found out this morning after I called them.

On question number 10. about the science instructor. It has a really big answer line. Should we list more references here?

I just listed one science professor in the line that asked for the premed committee since UF doesn't have one. On the next question I listed my other science recommendation writer. For both of these, I just used each line to write the address of the professors and their phone numbers.

Is it okay to substitute the pre-med committee letter requirement with another science professor? My premed committee will not meet/write LOR until early/middle of September. Obviously that would set me back. Thank you.

Yeah, it's ok for you to substitute.....on question 9...it says to type "substituting" and list the name......either of another science professor or your employer.

That was my understanding.

Thanks. That was what I did. I wrote "SUBSTITUTING" and the required info of the person I'm substituting it with. I wasn't sure how they would handle it if they find out my school has a premed committee. I have asked the committee for a letter and will have them send it to all the schools I applied to once they are done with it. In the meantime, I do not want to wait while everyone is getting interviewed. 🙂

Cool, that's what I ended up doing as well. I sent it out today from work so I never got a chance to check this.
